2009: Paul Jones, former lead singer with Manfred Mann, and his wife, actress Fiona Hendley (pictured right), were in great form for their latest visit to Norwich.

They were singing and giving their testimony at the Christmas Dinner arranged by the Norwich branch of the Full Gospel Business Men's Fellowship with a capacity crowd of 111 at the Quality Hote on Friday, December 4, in the presence of the Lord Mayor, Councillor Evelyn Collishaw and her Consort, Jim Hopes (pictured bottom).

FGBXmasAudienceAnother Guest of Honour, representing the Norfolk Constabulary, was Inspector Dave Rust from Bethel Street Police Station. All those attending were enrolled in the Stopper Copper Society whose members thank Police and Traffic Wardens for all they do. Inspector Rust was duly thanked as ‘without the Police we would have chaos.’ Inspector Rust wrote afterwards saying, ‘I had a great time and met some wonderful people.’

FGBXmasMayorMore appreciation came to Full Gospel Chapter Secretary Robert Osborne and his wife Margaret. ‘Thanks so much for organising the complementary tickets and the mini bus. Neil and Dean in particular, with no Christian background, were very moved by the whole event. Neil made a commitment and asked to join the group I will be working with. Gordon was absolutely thrilled with the autograph we got for him on his fiftieth birthday.’

Paul and Fiona told how they were in the same musical singing, ‘I’ve never been in love before,’ to each other for nine months before the penny dropped and they fell in love. They began to live together until, invited to a Luis Palau crusade by singer Cliff Richard, they went forward to accept Jesus. Realising they could not continue as they were, Paul promptly proposed!

Supporting testimonies came from former HSBC banker Matthew Newton and Dr  Robert Hardie who will also be speaking at the lunch at the Maids Head Hotel, in Tombland, Norwich, at 1-2 pm on Thursday, December 17 at which all are welcome. Reservations to Robert Ross 01603 631050 or Michael Wiltshire 01603 503274.
