Women of Action network launch in Norfolk

mmthd3A Christian organisation that connects women in the UK with disadvantaged women in Bangladesh is extending its network in Norfolk.

Global Christian charity Food for the Hungry runs a Women of Action network which connects women across the UK with oppressed and disadvantaged women across the floodplains of Bangladesh.

The women's groups in Bangladesh help thousands of women to transform all areas of their life - from learning how to protect their children's health to discovering how to set up their own small businesses. These groups are empowering women to lift themselves and their families out of poverty.

A group from the Women of Action network has recently returned from Bangladesh, including Alison Brown [pictured above] from Watton in Norfolk. Whilst there, Alison visited the women's groups, heard their stories and learnt about the project. Alison will now be building up the network in the Norfolk area, and is looking for opportunities to share Women of MMTHD1Action's work with local women's groups, churches and organisations.

With over 30 years experience, the network is already helping over 13,000 of the most disadvantaged families across Bangladesh.

Alison said, "During my visit to Bangladesh in January this year, I was able to experience this great work first hand. The Women of Action initiative is helping disadvantaged and oppressed women throughout Bangladesh to discover their potential and transform the communities they live in.

My hope is to be able to raise awareness in Norfolk and build up a network of supporters for this vital work."

Women of Action have developed alternative Mother's day gifts as a way of supporting some of the women they are in contact with. Mother's day is a great opportunity to reflect on the gift of motherhood whilst remembering the strength and perserverance of some of the world's poorest mums.

Women of Action's three life-changing gifts will help disadvantaged mums to lift their children out of poverty in Bangladesh.  Each gift comes with a beautiful card sharing the difference your support has made.  This card can be personally dedicated as a special gift for Mother's day .

mmthd2The gifts are family health lessons, vocational skills training and birth attendant training.
