Norfolk league urges new teams to apply for £1,500 grant

Grants of up to £1,500 are available for the next few weeks to help launch new local football teams and the Norfolk Christian Football League is urging churches and Christian groups to seize the opportunity.

The Football Foundation’s Grow the Game scheme provides grants for the creation of new football teams and coaching qualifications throughout England, and parts of Wales.

The funding aims to increase participation in football by helping clubs to provide opportunities for new players, or by training volunteers to support new players and teams.

Not-for-profit organisations, including churches and Christian organisations, are eligible to apply for funding for; male teams that are under 14-years-old; female teams; and disability teams

A £1,500 grant per team created is available over two or three years with the funding being reduced in the second or third year of the project.

Mike Culwick, chairman of the NCFL, is keen to talk to any Norfolk-based Christian groups or churches who would like to consider launching a team to join the league from September and therefore be eligible to access the grant funding opportunity, which closes on March 10.

To discuss joining the league, contact Mike at chairman@norfolkcfl.co.uk
