CalebGroupPeru750Norfolk men's group welcomes new members

A group which helps Christian men to grow in faith and provides spiritual support is opening up to new members at it transitions to online meetings.

Caleb came into being three years ago, inspired by the story of the biblical character who chose to wholeheartedly follow the Lord. It is an interdenominational group, with members from across Norfolk who attend, among others, Baptist, Anglican, Pentecostal, charismatic, Catholic and free evangelical churches.

Meetings of the group normally include some worship and biblical input, but the main purpose is to build fellowship by giving men an opportunity to share and pray together.

For some men who have been more on the edge of church it has been the first context in which they have discovered meaningful fellowship with other Christian men. Those who may be struggling with health problems or difficulties in the family have found it to be a confidential place where they open up without feeling embarrassed.

There is a six-member leadership group comprising David Adams, Stephen Gladwell, Paul Clayphan, Rod Joyce, Duncan Macinnis and Richard South. For men who would appreciate support on a particular subject, or just ongoing spiritual friendship, leaders are available to meet on a 1:1 basis, online, on the phone or in person.

The group would normally meet in person from 9am to 11am on the third Saturday of each month. Now that the Covid-19 restrictions have prompted a move to Zoom, the meetings finish at 10am. Men are free to contribute to the meetings, or if they prefer can just listen and receive.

The next Zoom meeting will take place on Saturday August 15, and any man who would like to join is invited to email mail@calebwftl.org.uk to request a link.
