Hundreds to take part as Christian youth league kicks-off

The Norfolk Christian Youth Football League kicks off on Saturday (September 21), with 21 teams competing at Under 12, Under 14 and Under 16 age groups.

There is a really strong group of 10 teams competing at Under 14 level, with a number of successful Under 12 teams moving up to join a good set of teams who played in the division last year.

There are teams from across Norfolk including Bacton, Sheringham, Brooke, Newton Flotman and Stoke Holy Cross as well as Lowestoft joining teams from the Norwich area.

League secretary Alan Barnes is looking for any further interest in the Under 10 age group (School years 4 & 5).

"We have a few teams interested in playing at this age group, but not enough to make a league at this stage,” he said. “If any church or club is interested in making up a team for a friendly match of 6 or 7-a-side, please contact me on secretary@norfolkcfl.co.uk and we will link you up.

“As a league we are excited to be taking part in the FA Initiative 'We Only do Positive' which will seek to promote all that is good about youth football across the county.

“We are looking forward to a really competitive season with around 200 boys and girls taking part, furthering our commitment to ‘Link Church to Community Through Football’, said Alan.
