The Norfolk Christian Football League is back

If you can’t yet get to see Norwich City play, why not check out a game in the Norfolk Christian League? Perhaps the standout game in the first Saturday of the new season was a thrilling 4-3 victory for Gateway Vineyard over Sprowston Radicals.

After going 4 -0 up shortly after half time, Vineyard were pegged back to 4-3 shortly before the final whistle- a really exciting game played in a very good spirit.  There were also wins for Lighthouse, Eaton Eagles and Heigham Park Rangers.

There are ten teams competing in the adult league this year following the disappointment of having to curtail last season due to COVID19.  A lot of work has been going on by clubs in all age groups, the league management and the Norfolk FA to ensure that competitive football can recommence and it was good to see that come to fruition at 10.30am last Saturday.

League chairman Jim Green says, 'We want to say a heartfelt thank you to all our clubs, managers and secretaries who have gone the extra mile to take all the measures necessary for football to take place during the pandemic. The difference a game of football makes to people in these times is hard to measure but we know it is really important for our physical, mental and social health.  We pray that God will bless the league and do, as Paul prays in Ephesians, ‘immeasurably more than all we ask or imagine, according to his power’.

The Youth Leagues are set to commence on Saturday September 26, in divisions at Under 12, Under 14 and Under 16.  There is still space for teams to enter any of these age-groups and more information can be obtained from League Secretary Alan Barnes by contacting secretary@norfolkcfl.co.uk
