Church team has new look and community focus

Gateway Vineyard Football Club have a new-look going into the new season and a new link-up with a local homeless charity.

The Norwich church team play in the Norfolk Christian Football League and started the season in the middle of September with a couple of good wins in their new claret and blue kit.

The team has linked up with homeless charity Hope into Action which, in 2012, started work in Norfolk with one volunteer. Now, after nearly eight years, Hope into Action is working with 11 Norfolk churches and housing 40 tenants in 11 houses, with two more in the pipeline.

Gateway football team manager, Tom Horsfall, said: “We are thrilled to announce our partnership with Hope into Action in Norwich - a charity also supported by Gateway Vineyard.

“As part of this partnership we have the charity logo on our shirts and will be undertaking fundraising for them and will be carrying out team building events which involve volunteering for the charity and benefiting our communities.

“It's so great to get involved with such a worthwhile cause and to help to enable the church to house the homeless.

“I think that as a squad with such a varied background, it has really emphasised that everyone has their part to play in building community and that we all have a real heart to make a real positive impact.”
