Norwich community gospel choir meets online

The Norwich Community Gospel Choir has gone online and has been busy recording some uplifting songs - and they welcome others to join in.

Megan Rawling, who leads the choir, said, "We've had so much fun getting our heads around how to produce our very own Virtual Choir films. Our first, Rejoice Rejoice, was produced in October 2020, our second is currently under construction and there are plenty more where they came from!"

Megan is starting online music classes beginning on Thursday November 12, and running all the way through to December 17. They are based on the Kodaly method, that Megan describes as "the most innovative, engaging, joyous, fun and highly effective means of learning music that I have ever come across." It involves clapping rhythms, bouncing balls, learning songs and using body percussion - something that everyone can do, and by doing so they learn skills such as music theory, singing at sight, notation, transposition. Megan said, "It's fun and engaging and takes all the bits of music theory and makes them not only accessible, but also a joy to learn."
