West Norfolk church celebrates new facilities

All Saints’ Church in King’s Lynn held a service of thanksgiving and blessing of their new toilet and kitchen facilities last Sunday.

On Sunday May 5 around 80 people gathered to celebrate the opening of the new toilet and kitchen at All Saints’ South Lynn.

Bishop of Norwich, the Rt Rev Graham Usher was present to bless the new amenities which were opened by Cllr Margaret Wilkinson, Mayor of King's Lynn & West Norfolk and David Flux Esq, High Sheriff of Norfolk.

The work was funded with grant help from the borough council, the Anglo-Catholic Society, and the Andrew Lloyd Webber Foundation.

Speaking to Lynn News, church rector Rev Canon Adrian Ling said: “It was lovely to be there and share the celebration with prosecco and canapes served from our new kitchen. It was so embarrassing before having to say that we don’t have a toilet.”

“We believe in hospitality as an important aspect of Christian service - our weekly mass is always followed by coffee in the church and any special event can be marked with a glass of bubbly. We’re so relieved to have new facilities because we were struggling for such a long time.”

A message of thanks was posted on the church’s Facebook page after the opening: “We hope you had a wonderful time as we mostly certainly did and would like to thank you all for helping to make this a day to remember. We could not have come this far without all your donations, hard work, and support and we cannot thank you enough for helping to make all this possible.”
