Norfolk Christian Football League set to resume

The Norfolk Christian Football League adult and three youth leagues are set to resume after its lockdown 2.0 break, on Saturday December 5.

The adult league is poised to be the most competitive in many years. The vast majority of games have been very closely fought, and happily all teams have points on the table said league chairman Jim Green.

“At the top the early pace seekers are Eaton Eagles, who have developed a fine passing game. They have a four-point lead over Stalham, but then there are four teams covered by four points.

“Just a point behind these teams, though, are last season’s league champions Norwich Central Baptist Church, who have several games in hand. Will they make their way up the league to their usual position at the top? Is this the season for a changing of the guard? That question was being asked in last year’s unfinished season: come and see a game to find this year’s answer,” suggests Jim.

Youth league secretary, Alan Barnes, said: “Players in the youth leagues are really looking forward to playing again. We have welcomed a team from Bungay Town to join our Under 12s league, where Silver Rd are currently leading the way.

“At Under 14s, Easton St Peter’s have set the pace so far, but will face strong opposition from Brooke Adventurers and Heigham Park Rangers.

“At under 16 level, Old Catton are looking very strong as they head into the next set of fixtures against Brooke, Lowestoft United and Lighthouse.
